The role

As a Project Manager in the CPU Toolchain team, you will be working at the heart of our software development life cycle, creating plans, monitoring progress, and co-ordinating test and releases.   

The PlayStation® CPU Toolchain is a global engineering effort, with multiple teams within SIE and the open-source LLVM community, developing features and improving the performance and robustness of the CPU compiler, linker and associated LLVM tools. The CPU Toolchain is released several times per year to PlayStation® game developers and internal SIE teams.   

Your efforts will contribute towards improvements in every game released for PlayStation and ultimately to the continued success of SIE.  

Working primarily with our QA and DevOps teams you will be responsible for managing resource across the QA cycle, ensuring that releases are tested in line with the required timescales. Working within DevOps involves managing service and project workflows and it will be your responsibility to make sure that backlog items are given the correct priority.   

This role is to cover maternity leave and we anticipate it lasting about 1 year.


What you’ll be doing

  • Create project plans for software projects, considering agreed objectives, milestones and quality.
  • Monitor and adjust plans to ensure that we achieve our milestones.
  • Coordinate the development of software components with internal teams.
  • Coordinate software test and release activities.
  • Report progress to stakeholders.
  • Manage internal non-production projects to ensure that we achieve the optimal balance between those projects which improve our own quality-of-life, and our external commitments.
  • Work with all teams to continually improve our software development process.
  • Contribute to improving project management and software development practices.

What we are looking for:

Must have

  • A track record of delivering projects on schedule.
  • Experience of project managing multiple complex software development projects in parallel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of using Agile methods in software development, e.g., Scrum, Kanban.

Nice to have 

  • Experience of Jira, Confluence. 
  • Experience of working with projects that use or (ideally) contribute to open source. 
  • Experience of working with teams and stakeholders in multiple global locations. 
  • Post graduate project management qualifications (APM, Scrum certification etc.). 
  • Experience of improving project management and development processes used by development teams. 
  • Experience of US culture/language.
