Vacancy : DevOps Engineer - Bristol

About the role:

SN Systems creates best-in-class development tools to help PlayStation® game studios make great games. It is important that we continually improve and enhance our in-house tooling to help us improve turnaround times and maintain the quality that PlayStation developers have come to expect.

To that end, we are looking for a DevOps engineer who can improve our continuous integration systems. You will optimize and automate wherever possible, leading to the key objective of reducing build and test times.

The current infrastructure is built upon VMWare, vSphere, Chef, Chocolatey, TeamCity, SVN and Perforce. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing, maintaining and troubleshooting our infrastructure to support several team's continuous integration and test systems.

You will assume responsibility for taking our systems to the next level, capitalizing on modern virtualization, provisioning and associated technologies to enable improvements in the continuous integration (CI/CD) and test systems across the organization.

You will work with teams of world-class engineers to help them reduce their build and test times by continuously analyzing historical data.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose problems and inefficiencies in our continuous integration systems and workflows used by our development and test engineers.
  • Design, build, test, deploy and maintain improved solutions.
  • Ensure that the appropriate tools are in place for monitoring systems.
  • Review best practices and emerging concepts in Infrastructure Automation to improve our systems.

Qualifications and experience:

  • BSc in Computer Science / Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.

Essential experience/skills:

  • You have maintained and operated continuous integration systems.
  • You have deep experience of Systems instrumentation, monitoring and debugging on Microsoft Windows.
  • You are competent in one or more scripting languages e.g. Python, Ruby, PowerShell.
  • You are familiar with source control management systems e.g. Git, SVN, Perforce etc.
  • You can lead technical discussions with engineering teams.

Desirable experience/skills:

Knowledge and experience of some of the following:

  • Continuous integration and deployment systems e.g. TeamCity.
  • Building products with Visual Studio.
  • Virtualization and container technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
  • Microsoft Windows system administration.
  • An understanding of networking technologies including IPv4/IPv6, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS.
  • Issue tracking and task management systems e.g. Bugzilla, Jira etc.
