Vacancy : DevOps Engineer, Bristol

About the role:

SN Systems creates best in class development tools to help PlayStation® game studios make great games. We continually improve and enhance our in-house tooling to help us improve turnaround times and maintain the quality that PlayStation developers have come to expect.

To that end, we are looking for a DevOps engineer who can improve our continuous integration systems. You will optimise and automate wherever possible, leading to the key objective of accelerating development.

You will work with teams of world class engineers to help them reduce their build and test times by continuously analysing historical data.

The current infrastructure is built upon Jenkins, Ansible, Git, vCenter & Chocolatey. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing, maintaining and troubleshooting our infrastructure to support several teams‘ continuous integration and test systems. You will also look for ways to improve all aspects of development, test and release workflows.

You will assume responsibility for taking our systems to the next level, capitalizing on modern virtualization, provisioning and associated technologies, to enable improvements in continuous integration (CI/CD) and test systems across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose problems and inefficiencies in our continuous integration systems and workflows used by our development and test engineers
  • Design, build, test, deploy and maintain improved solutions
  • Document new systems and add to the team knowledge base
  • Ensure that appropriate tools are in place for monitoring systems
  • Review best practices and emerging concepts in Infrastructure Automation to improve our systems

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Computer Science / Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Currently doing, or have previously held, a DevOps position

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

  • Maintained and operated continuous integration systems, ideally Jenkins
  • Systems instrumentation, monitoring and debugging on Linux and Microsoft Windows
  • Configuration management ideally Ansible
  • Web Services (nginx, HAProxy)
  • Virtualization (Docker, vCenter)
  • An understanding of networking knowledge (DNS, TCP/IP)
  • You are experienced in one or more of the following languages: Python, PowerShell
  • Version control

Experience with the following will be beneficial:

  • Containerization
  • Issue tracking and task management systems e.g. Bugzilla, Jira etc.
  • Metrics (Grafana, InfluxDB/Prometheus)
  • MSI Packaging
  • Cloud (AWS)

In the short term you will mainly work remotely from the office. Over time you are likely to work in the office, with possibly some remote working, and therefore need to be able to commute frequently to Bristol.
