The role

The primary activity is to support English and Japanese speaking PlayStation developers in their use of the SN Systems PlayStation development tools. This work is undertaken mostly remotely but sometimes face-to-face.

To support PlayStation developers, you will need to gain a thorough knowledge of the products and an understanding of the C/C++ code they are developing with the products.

This is a technical role that involves investigating and resolving PlayStation developer problems. Additionally, over time it is possible that you will visit PlayStation developers to investigate problems, demonstrate products, and give presentations about our products in both English and Japanese.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate technical issues clearly, be patient with busy developers and, above all, enjoy solving problems. You will also need strong account management skills to ensure all issues under your supervision are handled promptly and to resolution.  

You will work closely with the product development team’s highly skilled programmers. You will also be part of a team of support engineers working together across different time zones, where sharing knowledge and information is essential.

What you’ll be doing

  • Discussing technical issues with English and Japanese-speaking PlayStation developers.
  • Investigating problems to reproduce them or find workarounds.
  • Recording and managing bug reports and feature requests.
  • Translating technical conversations and text between English and Japanese.
  • Attending conferences to meet with PlayStation developers, demonstrate products, and present materials.
  • Help in the production of training videos.
  • Present product information to developers.
  • Personal project time.

What we are looking for:

Must have

  • Computer Science degree or at least 2 years practical experience of C/C++ programming.
  • High standard of spoken and written skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborates well in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving & critical thinking skills.

Nice to have

  • A passion for problem-solving.
  • Strong work ethic to provide high quality support and resolve issues.
  • Previous experience of supporting software products, including bug reporting.
  • An understanding of how to use assemblers, linkers, compilers, performance analyzers, and debuggers.
  • Knowledge of the video games industry.
