Vacancy : Developer Support Engineer – Campbell, California

About the role:

The position is great for a graduate or someone with a few years of experience in software support or development/testing. Strong computer science/engineering qualifications and C/C++ experience are a must, as is a desire to work at the cutting edge of the PlayStation® development tools industry.

The role’s primary activity is to provide front-line support to PlayStation® game developers, artists and testers (licensees) in their use of SN Systems' products; investigating and resolving technical problems. 

This is a niche role; much more low-level than many front-line support roles, working at both the hardware and software level. As part of the SN Systems Developer Services team, you will work closely with the Product Development team’s highly skilled programmers and other teams across Sony Interactive Entertainment.

As you gain experience, you will travel domestically and internationally; attending industry events, conferences, and visiting games studios to investigate problems, demonstrate products, and give presentations.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate technical issues clearly, demonstrate logical thinking, be patient and, above all, enjoy solving problems. You will also need strong account management skills. 

This role will be based in our Campbell, California office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage licensee’s support issues to completion in a timely manner
  • Reproduce and accurately record licensee’s bug reports
  • Determine and accurately record requirements/use cases for licensee feature requests
  • Consistently follow documented team procedures
  • Communicate with licensees and colleagues in a polite and professional manner
  • Contribute to studio visits and industry conferences and assist colleagues where required
  • General office IT support

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc in Computer Science / Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience

  • Strong communication skills; a good standard of verbal and written English
  • Experience in C/C++ programming
  • A team player
  • Networking and rapport building skills

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of supporting software products

  • Experience of software development tools such as assemblers, linkers, compilers, debuggers and performance analysis tools
  • An interest in the video games industry
  • Experience of IT support (personal/business)
  • Japanese language skills
