Q&A : Sara Nasr - Developer Support Engineer

Staff profile: Sara Nasr - Developer Support Engineer

Location: Campbell
Education: B.S Computer Science from San Francisco State University

How and when did you join SN Systems?

I joined in 2016 after working as a programming intern at a mobile gaming company.

What do you do at SN Systems?

I am a Developer Support Engineer in the Developer Services team. My main duties include supporting PlayStation® developers who are using our development tools. I work directly with them and SN developers on feature requests or bugs they may be experiencing. Additionally, from time to time I’ve visited game studios and conferences throughout North America to present and demonstrate upcoming features and also to gather feedback.

What has been the biggest challenge during your time at SN Systems?

My biggest challenge has been learning about the wide range of development tools that we provide on multiple platforms. It’s a steep learning curve and there’s always something new to discover. While we’re given regular training, the best way to learn is by working on real issues submitted by PlayStation® developers. Trying to reproduce their issues really helps to understand their workflows and how the products work on a lower level. Hands-on experience is definitely the best and quickest way to learn more about the tools.

What do you like most about working at SN Systems?

I love visiting game studios around the world, meeting new people and spending time with colleagues at company/team events. Each day I look forward to seeing and talking to all my colleagues.

What advice would you give anyone wanting to get into programming?

My advice is to do a small project. Get it working then make your project better by adding new features and optimizing your project to run smoother and faster. Don’t get discouraged if the project gets challenging. Have fun and keep learning something new every day.

What do you particularly like about living in your location?

I love all the food choices. There are different cuisine choices that satisfy whatever I’m craving. You will never run out of choices when you live in the Bay Area.
