Living in and around San Jose

Pedestrian-friendly streets add a European air to the district, enhanced further by fountains, farmers’ markets, concerts and frequent open air events. From casual outdoor cafés to fine food restaurants, eating out choices are both varied and abundant.

Within a short drive, San Jose hosts some fine national parks including Alum Rock Park, the first municipal park in California. The ridge trails offer superb views of Santa Clara Valley and of the canyon in which the park is situated. 

In contrast to the UK’s ever-changing seasons, San Jose experiences over 300 days of sunshine a year, with only light rainfall recorded.

When colder climates are required, the first-class skiing destination of Lake Tahoe is just a few hours' drive away.

In the opposite direction, the fascinating and world-famous city of San Francisco - which needs no introduction - is an easy hour's drive away.
